Instructors & Speakers
Christine Yu is Founder and Managing Director of Lapidary Limited, and Co-Founder of AndAll. AndAll is a digital-first, e-commerce brand of gender free, sustainable shirting in timeless prints made for modern life. It is a wholly-owned and incubated brand under Lapidary Limited, an impact investing and venture building platform founded in 2017. Prior to Lapidary, Christine spent the majority of her career in the institutional capital markets space, where she worked on the first green bond in Asia Pacific. Christine has since focused on investing and impact investing through Lapidary and heading up AngelVest Hong Kong, a regional angel investing network. She is also passionate about women’s empowerment, gender equality and mentoring, and co-founded a non-profit organization Girls Just Wanna Have Fund$ which is focused on closing the gender investing gap.
With a career spanning almost 30 years in technical design and product development with organisations such as M&S, Littlewoods, Shop Direct, C&A and Missguided, Jackie Lewis joined MOTIF in 2018 as Chief Content Curator leading content strategy and the development of MOTIF courses. Jackie also brings her expertise to Alvanon clients as a consultant focusing on 3D, process efficiencies and sustainability. Jackie admits being a retailer at heart, with a passion for textiles, ethical sourcing and sustainability, and new technologies. She is an ardent advocate of professional development in the industry.
Mukul, as the Chief Sustainability Officer of Birla Cellulose, one of the largest man made cellulosic fibers (MMCF) producer globally, has the responsibility for articulation and implementation of sustainable business strategy across the business and its key functions (manufacturing, product development, and marketing). His responsibilities include accelerating improvements in sustainable business practices and adapting technology innovations by applying collaborative approach with partnerships and engagements across the MMCF value chain. Mukul is actively engaged in leading Multi-stakeholder Initiatives related to Fashion and MMCF industry. He is a Board Member of Sustainable Apparel Coalition and part of the MMCF task force at ZDHC as well as at Textile Exchange.
Tara St James has worked in the fashion industry for over 20 years. In addition to founding her own sustainable brand, Study NY, she has consulted for both small and large brands and has a broad understanding of sustainable design and supply chain. Most recently Tara worked as Production Coordinator and Research Fellow in the Sustainable Strategies Lab for Pratt’s Brooklyn Fashion + Design Accelerator. She has recently built Re:Sourced, a sustainable textile library and sourcing service to help the industry find responsible solutions. Tara is one of the instructors of the Sustainability in Fashion online course on MOTIF and also teaches a sustainable material sourcing course at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

The MOTIF Reimagine and Reinvent Learning Series is a new way to learn. These are two-hour virtual formats hosted by MOTIF with guest subject-matter experts from across the industry. The two-hour session involves presentations, break-out small group discussions and a chance to challenge your assumptions and ask questions to practitioners and peers.
Unlike a webinar, this event encourages peer to peer interactions. We encourage all participants to prepare by reading the assigned pre-reading, ask questions in the session community forum and come prepared to engage in a live discussion.
This event is open to any industry professional. Some topics may be more advanced than others but there are no prerequisites to attend.
