There has been a lot of talk in 2020 about the inherent benefits in 3D product visualisation, especially when it comes to sustainability and efficiency. But one glaring issue is the slow adoption versus the fast-paced world of fashion.

In the fall of 2020, Weave published the findings of their market research conducted with industry executives where they asked about the key challenges and the gaps between strategic intent and operational execution. Their research indicated 5 key findings that lead to a framework to understand the various challenges faced by fashion and apparel companies. Join us today to discuss these findings with Weave, Li & Fung and EB Atelier and to talk about solutions through the use of case studies.

This MOTIF Learning Series installment is a multi-part case study that looks at the challenges companies face with 3D implementation and then brings in three speakers to share their case studies from an executive and a super-user point of view. The two-hour online session involves brief presentations, two separate break-out discussions and a chance to challenge your assumptions and ask questions.

Tim is a Director at Weave Services, a specialist Supply Chain consulting firm with offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam and Greater China, helping brands, retailers & manufacturers in fashion and lifestyle consumer products to digitize and simplify their complex supply chains. Based in Hong Kong, Tim is responsible for leading Manufacturing Excellence & Digital Transformation programs across Asia, with a track record for delivery of high-impact projects for clients in the Footwear, Apparel & Jewelry sectors. He has over 16 years’ experience working across Asia, Europe Australia within Design, Development, Manufacturing & end to end Supply Chain. He is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, APICS CSCP accredited, holds an MBA from HKUST and a Mechanical Engineering Degree from Monash University.

Idy Lee
SVP Digital Product Development, Li & Fung

Idy Lee is SVP of the Li & Fung Digital Product Development Centre of Excellence responsible for leading and driving all operations for servicing the digital supply chain services in Product development. The fundamental vision is to facilitate a flexible digital platform that brings end-to-end connectivity across the value chain virtually and harnesses the power of data. Idy joined the Fung Group in 2004 as part of the Management Trainee Program. She has spent her first year rotating through various business units in both merchandising & operations roles and have worked closely with business leaders, merchandising teams, and customer teams on the Supply Chain & logistics landscape.

Owner, EB Atelier

Ewelina Barlak is the owner of EB Atelier and has been designing for her own fashion brand, EWELINEB, for many years. Throughout her 16 years of experience in the Fashion Industry she has lived and worked in five different countries, worked with great designers, such as: Tom Ford, Gucci, Oscar de la Renta, Ralph & Russo, Elizabeth Emanuel; the best stylists, such as: Kate Young, Petra Flannery, Aldene Johnson, Ariana Weisner, and Abi Katz; as well as the best technicians and couturiers. An expert in the use of OPTITEX 2D & 3D technology, she is a staunch supporter of integrated 2D and 3D solutions as a must-have to meet the challenges of today’s garment industry reality.

The MOTIF Reimagine and Reinvent Learning Series is a new way to learn. These are two-hour virtual formats hosted by MOTIF with guest subject-matter experts from across the industry. The two-hour session involves presentations, break-out small group discussions and a chance to challenge your assumptions and ask questions to practitioners and peers.

Unlike a webinar, this event encourages peer to peer interactions. We encourage all participants to prepare by reading the assigned pre-reading, ask questions in the session community forum and come prepared to engage in a live discussion.
