Esquel Group Is Championing Sustainability from Seed to Shirt
Founded in 1978, Esquel Group has grown to become one of the largest cotton-shirt makers and exporters in the world. Esquel’s vertically-integrated operations ensure the highest quality in every step of the apparel manufacturing process. Production begins in Xinjiang in northwestern China, where the Group conducts research on cotton and cotton seed, gins Extra Long Staple (ELS) cotton, and continues through spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing and finishing, then to garment manufacturing, accessories, packaging and retailing. Esquel is also developing and nurturing two of its own retail brands of high quality shirts – PYE and Determinant.
Headquartered in Hong Kong, Esquel Group has state-of-the-art production facilities in China, Sri Lanka and Vietnam and a network of strategically-located merchandising offices servicing key markets in the U.S., Europe, China, Japan and South Korea. With a workforce of over 35,000, Esquel manufactures garments for global leading brands including Anta, Hugo Boss, Li-Ning and Muji.
Esquel embraces technology and encourages innovation within the Group. As of December 2020, the company has submitted 2,209 applications for patents, of which 1,620 have been granted and 552 of them are related to innovations. Esquel strives to develop and efficiently integrate new discoveries and technologies with different processes along the entire supply chain, such as genome sequencing of ELS cotton, new materials, green technologies, smart manufacturing and robotics.
