3D Certification Tracks with 3D.RC, Browzwear’s Guild and MOTIF
Skills are still one of the key roadblocks in the race to adopt digitisation of design, development and merchandising processes. Catherine Cole, CEO of MOTIF in conversation with Safir Bellali, 3D.RC Education Sub-Committee Chair and Lena Lim, CCO of Browzwear will talk about the need for and reality of 3D certification roadmaps now and in the future.

Lena is an expert in strategy, change process management and business restructuring to enable digital transformation. She has over 20 years experience managing teams in Asia, France and USA in the fashion industry as well as a number of technology industries. A graduate of the Insead Business School in France, Lena also facilitates leadership, entrepreneurship and social ethics workshops using the Bissada Management simulation platform. She is committed to helping the craftsmen and women who create apparel to harness the power of digitalization. She is also a director of X-Border Community Service Ltd and sits on the board of Wycliffe Global Alliance.

With over 20 years of combined experience as an automotive engineer and industrial designer, Safir has been able to leverage his strategic thinking and creative problem-solving skills to tackle a wide range of innovation challenges. Safir was an early adopter of 3D design and prototyping tools and carried his experience from the automotive world into the fashion and footwear industry. As Head of Innovation for the industry’s leading Action Sports brand, Vans, he oversaw a number of initiatives that spanned across product and experiences. In his new role, driving innovation through digital technologies for VF’s 20+ Apparel, Footwear, and Accessories brands, he aims to explore the opportunities offered by digital tools and workflows and help imagine the future of Digital Product Creation. An advocate of purposeful and responsible design, Safir also understands the opportunity we have to close the digital skills gap by democratizing access to education.

Catherine Cole is the Chief Executive Officer of MOTIF, the apparel knowledge hub that connects professionals around the world with the skills and industry expertise they need to transform their business, lives and careers. Based in Hong Kong, Catherine has over 20 years of experience working with multinationals and start-ups across Asia in business development, marketing and strategy roles for companies such as Samsung, Evergreen International Airlines and RacingThePlanet. Her passion is at the intersection of technology and education, especially as it relates to lifelong learning and upskilling in industries as dynamic as fashion. Catherine holds an MBA degree from Harvard Business School and BA and MA degrees in Chinese History from the University of Pennsylvania. Catherine grew up in Asia and lives on an outlying island in Hong Kong with her husband and daughter.
